Scott Mitchell has accepted the final invitation available for the 2023 JenningsBet World Seniors Masters.

Taking place between the 2nd-3rd September at The Barbican in York, the 16-player field will battle it out, live on BT Sport as they attempt to dethrone Robert Thornton. The Thorn won the inaugural Matchplay title last year in Hull.

Scotty Dog is a Former BDO World Champion and made his WSDT debut at the JenningsBet World Seniors Darts Championship at the Circus Tavern losing out to eventual champion Robert Thornton.

Richie Howson. The New King of the Qualifiers and the 3-time WSDT TV finalist has also secured his place in the tournament. The Owl cannot be caught in the Money List Order of Merit, so is guaranteed a spot in the event.

Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor and Martin ‘Wolfie’ Adams, two WSDT TV ever-presents, will both be in the field once again, as two of the most successful players of all time target their first World Seniors title.

John Part will lead a North American trio to York. The three-time World Champion will be joined by the former World Seniors Master David Cameron from Canada. The USA will be represented by the Champion of Champions and newly crowned World Seniors Master Leonard Gates.

Three more world champions in Trina Gulliver, Neil Duff and Glen Durrant have also accepted invitations, as Duzza puts down the mic and returns to the oche for the first time since February.  Former Players Championship finalist Kevin Painter completes the line up as he seeks to improve on his 3 WSDT TV Semi-Final appearances.

A total of 4 players will qualify for the event during a qualifying weekend in Reading on the 28th– 30th July.  Those 4 players will be made up of 2 individual qualifier event winners, the Order or Merit Leader, and the Money List leader (currently occupied by Howson. Should he win a qualifier or top the Order of Merit those methods of qualifying would take preference).

“York is no stranger to live sport, but we are super excited to be bringing a darts tournament to The Barbican. Especially one that is loaded with such quality. The standard of play on the World Seniors Darts Tour this year has been fantastic, and we are sure it will continue to get even better”

Billy Lovell of the World Seniors Darts Tour
