Despite darts being more associated with the Winter months and especially Christmas and New Year, Summertime darts often has a fantastic holiday type atmosphere and sense of enjoyment to it. In some ways elite darts has been witnessing a slow motion generation change over the last few years. The World Matchplay showed this is a stronger light than has been seen previously. The top 4 ranked were all gone in the very early stages and it very soon became apparent that a first time winner was going to lift the Phil Taylor trophy.
Natham Aspinall’s triumph was well timed and had a touch of the fairytale to it, although Jonny Clayton’s near miss had seemed another ‘name on the pot’ story waiting to happen.

Luke Littler underlined the young prodigy and next gen themes when he completed a unique MODUS Super series double.
The Saudi Arabian by-in continues across sports and at a remarkable pace. Surely it can only be a matter of time before the PDC and partners manage to showcase our game in the latest rapid growth market. Word reaches our ears that at least one figure looking to make an impact in darts is now based in the Kingdom.
It might be wise to consider early-on the type of sacrifices that may have to be made or values compromised if the two are to be able to combine?
