Danny Jansen and Keane Barry were victorious on Friday, in winning Winmau Development Tour Events One & Two respectively, as the opening weekend of the PDC’s Youth Tour season commenced at the Marshall Arena, Milton Keynes.

A PDC Development Tour season sees players aged 16-24 compete across a number of weekends a year in a total of 24 events, with the top two players from the 2024 Order of Merit securing themselves a two-year PDC Tour Card for 2025/26 and a place at the 2024/25 World Darts Championship.

Jansen, who lost his PDC Tour Card at the end of 2023 and picked up a maiden Challenge Tour title of his career last month, reached the final firstly by recording victories against Travis Baur, Kieran Thompson, Patrik Williams, Cam Crabtree, Dylan Dowling, Paul Krohne and Daniel Perry, to set up a clash with fellow compatriot, Owen Roelofs.

The final began with Roelofs winning back-to-back legs in 12 and 20 darts respectively, before there was a run of five straight holds of throw, which was ended by Jansen in Leg Eight, as he broke his opponent’s throw in 17 darts to force a ninth and deciding leg.

The advantage of throwing first proved to be vital, as Jansen sealed the victory with a 16 dart hold of throw to pick up a maiden Development Tour title of his career.

In Event Two, Keane Barry was victorious, with the Former UK Open Semi Finalist reaching the final firstly by recording victories against Jeffrey Keen, Jamai Van den Herik, Owen Maiden, Niko Springer, Cam Crabtree, Ondrej Frystacky and Bailey White, to set up a clash with Dutchman Gian van Veen.

Nothing separated the pair throughout the entirety of the final, with there being an incredible nine straight holds of throw and the advantage of throwing first in the odd numbered legs proving to be vital, as Barry sealed the victory in 15 darts to clinch a sixth Development Tour title of his career.

The PDC Winmau Development Tour weekend continues on Saturday, with Events Three & Four taking place in Milton Keynes, with play commencing at 10:30 GMT, as all live scores and results can be viewed at tv.dartconnect.com.
