While Keely Hodgkinson remains a strong odds-on favourite at 2/7 to be named BBC Sports Personality of the Year tomorrow night, the one bookies allegedly fear in the market is supposedly Luke Littler.
“The darting sensation has been popular in the betting since the beginning of the World Darts Championship, shortening into 12/5 from 10/3 last week, and that’s before we consider any of the long-range liabilities we’ve racked up on ‘The Nuke’ since the beginning of the year.
However folks, it’s worth having a thought to yourself why bookies would be talking this up if it were really a threat to them?
Could it be that they are happy to take bets on the boy wonder, while knowing the title is beyond his reach? Surely not.
“It looks a two-horse race by the betting, with not that much in the way of support for Alex Yee or Joe Root at 66/1, while Jude Bellingham and Sarah Storey are available to back at huge odds of 150/1.”
