Mike Norton and Andy Boulton took the early lead on Thursday in ending Day 1 of their respective groups, top, as they look to join Gary Stone in the Saturday’s finale at the Modus Super Series.
Former UK Open Participant, Norton, made his return to the Super Series, with the 59-year-old taking the early lead in Group C, by winning four matches from five and recording victories over Robert Rickwood, Martin Adams, Scott Taylor and Kevin Dowling, with his only defeat coming against Lee Shewan.
Elsewhere, Kevin Dowling also ended the day on 8 points, but sits behind Norton on leg difference, whilst Scott Taylor and Lee Shewan sit 3rd and 4th respectively on 6 points each, Martin Adams in 5th on 2 points, but it was a disappointing day for Robert Rickwood, who failed to register a victory, having suffered five defeats from five.
In Group B, Andy Boulton topped the group overall, after completing a clean sweep with four wins from four, as he recorded victories over Scott Walters, Alan Tabern, Harry Ward and Ryan Palmer.
Elsewhere, Scott Walters and Alan Tabern ended the night 2nd and 3rd respectively on 4 points each, whilst Ryan Palmer and Harry Ward ended 4th and 5th on 2 points each, heading into the final night of Group B on Friday.
Modus Super Series continues on Friday with players continuing to battle out as they aim to join Gary Stone in Saturday’s finale, with Norton and Boulton taking the early lead thus far.
Group C will commence from 9:30am GMT and Group B will commence from 10pm GMT.
