Globally recognised darts organisation, Unicorn Darts, have announced another major signing, adding James Hurrell to their newly expanding roster of stars.
The Oxfordshire arrow-smith now finds himself aligned with one of the sport’s most historic and prestigious brands, a company synonymous with champions and silverware across multiple eras.
Following a switch from Mission, Hurrell joins an elite team boasting Gary Anderson and James Wade. It is a move that carries both symbolic and competitive weight, placing the Banbury thrower alongside decorated major winners and proven title collectors.
Prior to securing a PDC Tour Card at the 2024 Q-School in Milton Keynes, he had already compiled an immensely impressive résumé, reaching the top-ranking position within the World Darts Federation and captaining England on numerous occasions, often steering his nation to prestigious major honours with authority and composure.
Since earning his professional status on the Professional Darts Corporation circuit, the 41-year-old has produced a succession of refined and assured performances. Four Players Championship quarter-final runs underline his consistency at floor level, while last July in Leicester he came agonisingly close to a maiden final appearance, edged in a last-leg decider by fellow Englishman Bradley Brooks.
It is undoubtedly a positive move for Hillbilly, particularly off the back of some scintillating displays at the recent PDC World Darts Championship. His campaign included notable victories over Dirk van Duijvenbode and Premier League campaigner Stephen Bunting before being halted in round four by Ryan Searle.
With life, as the saying goes, beginning at forty, the Banbury chucker still has a considerable chapter of elite competition ahead of him. Backed by Unicorn’s heritage and global stature, Hurrell will be determined to convert promise into tangible silverware and to become another distinguished standard-bearer carrying titles back to the company’s already illustrious cabinet.
