Week Three of Series 15 at the MODUS Super Series will be remembered as the moment Andy Baetens finally converted consistent excellence into a Champions Week ticket.
The Belgian, nicknamed “The Beast,” claimed his first weekly title on Saturday night, defeating Llew Bevan 4-3 in a deciding-leg final to secure both the £5,000 first prize and a place in Champions Week. It had been a special week from the outset.
José de Sousa, the former Grand Slam of Darts champion, made his Super Series debut, bringing genuine star power to the Live Lounge in Portsmouth.
Around him sat a mix of established names and proven MODUS regulars, creating three distinct group stories that built steadily toward Finals Night.

Group A Sets the Standard
Baetens seized control early. Across three days of Group A action he compiled an impressive 22 points from a possible 30, topping the section with a combination of high scoring and clinical finishing.
One of the week’s standout moments arrived when he dismantled de Sousa with a 109 average in under seven minutes — a performance that underlined his credentials.
Paul Krohne matched him for points at stages, while de Sousa and Dylan Slevin both showed enough quality to stay in contention.
By Wednesday evening the Belgian had done enough to book his place in the finale as Group A winner, leaving the remaining qualification spots to be decided in Groups B and C.
Drama in Groups B and C
Thursday and Friday delivered the expected intensity. In Group C, Asa Cansdale produced a strong second-day surge to top the section on 14 points, with Dylan Slevin edging Mike Warburton for the second qualification place on leg difference. Killian Heffernan and Ciaran Forde pushed hard but fell short.
Group B proved equally competitive. Llew Bevan emerged as the standout, winning three of his four matches on the final evening to finish clear on 12 points.
José de Sousa and Dom Taylor both advanced on 10 points, the Portuguese star showing flashes of his best form even if consistency proved elusive. Paul Krohne and Lewis Gurney completed the field but could not force their way into the Saturday showpiece.
Finals Night Darts: Clinical Then Dramatic
The six-man Finals Night field — Baetens, Cansdale, Slevin, Bevan, de Sousa and Taylor — gathered under the Live Lounge lights with one Champions Week place and the weekly cheque on the line.
Baetens began the evening in commanding fashion. He won both of his group-phase matches, overcoming Dylan Slevin and José de Sousa to progress. In the semi-finals he produced a ruthless 4-0 whitewash of Dom Taylor, “The Tower,” to book his place in the final with the minimum of fuss.
On the other side of the draw, Llew Bevan continued his late-week surge. After topping his section, the Welshman produced a composed performance to eliminate de Sousa in the last four, setting up an intriguing final against the Belgian favourite.
Nothing separated Baetens and Bevan for most of the decider. The contest remained locked until the seventh and final leg, where the more experienced Belgian held his nerve and closed out a 4-3 victory.
It was the moment Baetens had been waiting for — Series 4 redemption completed, first weekly title secured, and a place in Champions Week confirmed.
Looking Ahead
For Baetens the win carries extra significance. Strong performances and occasional brilliance had become regular features of his Super Series appearances, yet a weekly crown had previously eluded him.
Saturday’s success removes that particular barrier and positions him as a genuine contender when the Champions Week field assembles later in the series.
Bevan can reflect on a campaign that peaked at the perfect time, while de Sousa’s debut added genuine lustre even if his Finals Night run ended in the semi-finals.
The week as a whole showcased the depth and unpredictability that continue to define the MODUS Super Series.
The action resumes on Monday with the start of Week Four. Group A begins at 9:30am BST and features a field including Steve Beaton and John Henderson.
