Hayter Signs Off South Season with Sunday Double

Four meetings in two days. Three wins. When the dust settled on the WADC Winmau Championship South, Darts World ambassador Gemma Hayter had finished the job against Fallon Sherrock.

Hayter closed out the Aylesbury weekend with a double on Sunday, winning Events 11 and 12 at Bradmoor Farm. It made it three titles from four events across the weekend, after she and Sherrock had shared the spoils on Saturday.

Hayter made her third straight final of the campaign in Event 11 with a 5-2 win over Sherrock in the semi-finals. “The Queen of the Palace” had won Saturday’s Event 10 final in a decider, but this time Hayter was in control.

She then beat Rebecca Rose 5-1 in the final to win her fifth title of the season. It was a result that mattered to Rose too. Reaching the final took her a big step towards a place in the Grand Finals at the MODUS Live Lounge.

And like clockwork, Event 12 came around and Hayter reached a fourth straight final by whitewashing Sue Lowther 5-0, averaging over 82. The final was a rematch with Sherrock, and this time it was the closest of the weekend.

Sherrock led 4-1 and was one leg from the title. Hayter won the next four legs to complete the comeback 5-4, sealing it with a 13-darter. It was her sixth South title of the season, and her third of the weekend.

That gives Hayter a 3-1 record against Sherrock across the weekend, with the pair meeting in the Event 9 final, Event 10 final, Event 11 semi-final and Event 12 final.

Heading into the weekend, Hayter and Deta Hedman were head and shoulders above the rest, and with the top two qualifying for the ADC Global Championship the two have booked their place in Portsmouth for that commitment.

The top eight in the South table made the Winmau Championship Grand Finals at the end of November, but with Steph Clarke and Vicky Pruim having already qualified through the North section, Jo Locke and Rebecca Rose booked tickets to the South Coast finale.
