Gian Van Veen and Roman Benecky were victorious on Friday, in winning Winmau Development Tour Events Six & Seven respectively, as the second weekend of the PDC’s Youth Tour season commenced at Halle 39, Hildesheim.

Benecky, who appeared at the 2022 World Darts Championship, reached the final of Event Six firstly by recording victories against Zyon Raman, Ryan Kettle, Hayden Robbie, Jack Male, Bailey White, Charlie Manby, Dylan Dowling and Gian Van Veen, to set up a clash with Thomas Banks.

Nothing separated the pair throughout the final with there being eight straight holds of throw to set up a ninth and deciding leg in which Banks would have the advantage of throwing first.

Benecky produced the solitary break of throw in the tie to seal the victory in Leg Nine with an 18 darter to clinch a first PDC title as well as the £2,500 top prize.

In Event Seven, Gian Van Veen was victorious, with the Dutch Tour-Card Holder reaching the final firstly by recording victories Joshua Adriaanse, Sam Groot Roessink, Stefan Dees, Marvin Van Velzen, Sebastian Bialecki, Owen Roelofs and Jimmy Bristow, to set up a clash with Nathan Rafferty.

The final began with Van Veen racing into a 3-0 lead, with winning legs coming in 15,13 and 14 darts respectively, before Rafferty ended the run in Leg Four with an 18-dart leg of his own.

This ultimately went on to be The Northern Irishman’s solitary leg won in the tie, as Van Veen sealed the victory by clinching back-to-back legs in 18 and 21 darts to pick up a second Development Tour title of the year.

The PDC Winmau Development Tour weekend continues on Saturday, with Events Eight & Nine taking place in Hildesheim.
