Campbell Turns It On to Win MODUS Super Series Week

Diamond Draws Competitions

There was late drama at the MODUS Live Lounge on Saturday, as Scott Campbell overturned a mixed group-stage showing to win Week Two of Series 15, beating Lee Evans 4-2 in the final.

Campbell had gone into finals night having finished only third in his regular Group B session on Friday, behind both Berry Van Peer and Reece Colley, and the mixed form continued in the group phase proper. A win over Van Peer followed by a defeat to Evans left him needing the semi-final to turn things around.

He got exactly that. Waiting for him was Jack Drayton, the reigning Series 14 champion. What followed was arguably the tie of the night, Campbell edging it 4-3 to end Drayton’s run, and, with it, a scoreline that carries a little extra weight this year.

Drayton currently sits second on the PDC Development Tour Order of Merit, comfortably clear of the chasing pack behind Sebastian Bialecki, and the top two non-Tour Card players on that list at season’s end are handed a card.

Keep that form up, and there’s every chance this Super Series run of his ends up a much shorter one than most. Campbell may have ended Drayton’s career at the Live Lounge just as Bialecki did to a certain Luke Littler three years ago.

On the other side of the draw, Evans had been the standout of Final Group 2, winning both his matches at an average north of 92 and carried that into a comfortable 4-1 semi-final win over Colley, who’d topped Final Group 1 on leg difference ahead of Drayton and Zvonimir Lesic.

But it was Campbell’s night. Having already got the better of Drayton once, he did it again where it mattered most, closing out a 4-2 win over Evans to bank the £5,000 first prize and a place in the Series 15 Champions Week .
