Day one delivered one of the most evenly contested groups of the fourteenth MODUS Super Series, so far, with no single darts player establishing complete control from the outset. Instead, the day was characterised by momentum swings, closely fought contests and a succession of deciding-leg encounters, highlighting just how fine the margins can be in the short format.
Jack Aldridge leads Group A after managing four wins and 8 points in total. Immediately behind him are three players tied on six points.
The competitive balance across the group ensured every session carried significance, with no player able to pull decisively clear of the chasing pack. That level of parity created constant pressure and made consistency, rather than brilliance alone, the key ingredient for success.
Not every player enjoyed a memorable day, however. Robert Thornton, whose wealth of experience was not enough to prevent a lowly finish and zero points.

Michael Warburton endured a frustrating campaign, making an immediate statement with a commanding 4-1 victory over Thornton that quickly placed him among the leading qualification hopefuls. Yet, his day petered out as he managed only one further win and finished the day fifth.
Nathan Potter further enhanced his growing reputation as one of the competition’s most dependable performers. Combining heavy scoring with composed finishing, Potter remained competitive throughout the day despite facing several stern tests. Jack Aldridge also produced a series of eye-catching displays, including an impressive 4-2 victory over Potter, underlining his increasing confidence and comfort in the short-format environment. The Wizard and Carl Bachelor finished on six points.
Jamai van den Herik struggled to establish any sustained rhythm despite producing occasional flashes of quality. His comprehensive 4-1 defeat to Carl Batchelor damaged a promising campaign but the Dutchman powered through and managed a strong third place, also with six points. Inconsistency also hampered others who followed impressive performances with disappointing displays.
One of the defining features was the importance of finishing under pressure. While scoring remained significant, it was the players who consistently converted opportunities on the doubles who enjoyed the greatest success.
